PRESS NOTE > EUROPEAN UNION

H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary
Mr. Vassilis Papadopoulos
Embassy of the Hellenic Republic in Ukraine
Panfilovtsy st., 10, Kyiv 01901, Ukraine

H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary,

EU, US and other countries have introduced sectoral sanctions against Russia in response to the violation of the international law by Russia in Ukraine.

EU legislation on restrictive measures against Russia covers the entire territory of the European Union and the EU encourages third States to adopt restrictive measures against Russia similar to those as provides EC that these measures have had the best possible impact.

This package of sanctions is designed as a powerful warning that the illegal annexation of the territory of Ukraine [Crimea] and deliberate destabilization of a sovereign state is unacceptable in Europe of the XXI century.

We regret that Greece has signed a contract with Russia for the supply of spare parts for the air defense system of air defense systems "Tor-M1" and "Osa-AKM" thereby violating EU sanctions against Russia, thus contributing to the support of aggression and terrorists activities on the part of Russia.

We strongly condemn Russia for undeclared "hybrid war" against Ukraine.

The actions of Russian leaders - is a threat not only to the unity and independence of Ukraine, but also the security of the entire European continent.
